Also known as: FCRA, FACTA, Red Flags Rule, 16 CFR 681, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act

Fair Credit Reporting Act and FACTA Identity Theft Red Flags Rule (16 CFR 681) — US Federal Trade Commission (FTC)

The security half of the FCRA as amended by FACTA: a creditor or financial institution holding covered accounts must run a written identity theft prevention programme — patterns it treats as red flags, how it detects them, and how it responds — approved by its board and reviewed as the risk changes. Proposed in July 2006 (06-6187) and reworked after the Red Flag Program Clarification Act of 2010.
