OECD Privacy Guidelines

Also known as: OECD Privacy Principles, OECD Privacy Guidelines, OECD/LEGAL/0188, OECD Guidelines on the Protection of Privacy

OECD Recommendation concerning Guidelines Governing the Protection of Privacy and Transborder Flows of Personal Data (OECD/LEGAL/0188) — OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development)

The eight privacy principles — collection limitation, data quality, purpose specification, use limitation, security safeguards, openness, individual participation and accountability — from which most of the world's data protection law is descended, GDPR and the APEC privacy framework included. Amended once in thirty-three years, which is exactly why a change here is worth catching.
